The Stationery Show

The stationery show is an original event presenting the stationery trends, the emerging brands and freshest product ideas for stationery lovers and retailers. The initial task for this project was to develop a concept for the event and design a website as the main platform to promote the show.

Objective

Applying design thinking, branding strategy together with user-centred design for creating a joyful stationery event.

Project
Background

Stationery products are personal and evoke a sense of nostalgia. In a world dominated by digital communication, there is nothing more valuable than the power of handwritten notes and personalization.

As a stationery addict, I followed many influencers via their own channels online, however, there is no offline platform and community to explore and exchange ideas and collections with other stationery lovers. Also it’s hard to shop all the best international brands in New Zealand.

  • 1. Main Product & Market segmentation
    Paper products & Asia-Pacific

    2. Trends and changes in consumer behaviour
Product Innovation & Personalisation / Omnichannel retail / Lifestyle and fashion-based stationery retailers

    3. Situation & Challenge
From manufacturing to outsourcing / Demand for paper-related products decline / A narrow range of stationery products

About the concept
Unlock Your Joy

Along with a series of talks and activities, this three-day show will be the first stationery event in New Zealand that brings the top sought-after and cool stationery products and fresh ideas from around the world.

The theme of this event is Unlock Your Joy. It's all about enjoying the moment, and unleashing your creative potential to find, experience and express your joy in everyday life through these small ‘tangible things’.

Target Audience
& User Journey

The target audiences include stationery lovers, students, designers and artist who want to get an overview about the show on the website, and attend the event for shopping products and meeting friends.

Apart from personas’ needs, motivations and frustrations, it’s essential to understand their event attendance attributes and how they search information and use social media.

Scenario
As a mom with hectic home life, Lena wants to buy a weekly planner at the show, which could help align her daily tasks, so she visits the website to get an overview about this event and find who’s on show.
